GENERAL PURPOSE RATING COURSE
Duration of the GP Rating Course is 6 months. There is no scope for leave or sick leave during the course. This is a FULLY RESIDENTIAL course (attendance is compulsory). As a part of training, candidates need to be prepared for practical work including swimming, parade training, looking after the upkeep of their living quarters, and the campus. This course includes the mandatory Basic STCW courses.

Xth standard pass with aggregate 40% marks, with subjects Science, Mathematics & minimum 40% marks in English from government recognized board. English 40% in Xth / XIIth. OR Pass in 2 Year ITI course* with aggregate 50% marks, and minimum 40% marks in English at Xth standard from a DVET approved institute. OR XIIth standard (any stream) Pass with aggregate 40% marks. With subjects Science and Mathematics at std Xth and minimum 40% marks in English at std Xth or XIIth Diploma or Degree holders meeting above requirements. |

Height: 158 cm Minimum BMI: 20 Minimum BMI: 30 Maximum Normal colour and field of vision. No squint. No eye disease. Distance Vision: [Unaided] 6/6 in better eye and 6/9 in other eye. No speech impairment (disorder) Candidate should be physically fit as per amendment MS (Medical Examination) rules 2016. |

1. Passport a) Compulsory at the time of application. b) Valid upto at least 2 years after completion of course. c) Passport should have surname and given name. d) Passport should not bear "ECR REQUIRED" Endorsement. e) Name and DOB on passport and marksheet should be same. f) The passport signature shall constitute the official specimen signature of the candidate and the same shall be used uniformly on all subsequent maritime documents. g) All documents original at the time of admission, plus one set of self attested documents. h) Passport size photos. |

| Selection is done by written and oral test in English grammar, Maths, Science and General Knowledge. Syllabus upto and including 10th standard. |
