GENERAL PURPOSE RATING COURSE

Duration of the GP Rating Course is 6 months. There is no scope for leave or sick leave during the course. This is a FULLY RESIDENTIAL course (attendance is compulsory). As a part of training, candidates need to be prepared for practical work including swimming, parade training, looking after the upkeep of their living quarters, and the campus. This course includes the mandatory Basic STCW courses.

1. Passport 
a) Compulsory at the time of application.
b) Valid upto at least 2 years after 
completion of course.
c) Passport should have surname 
and given name.
d) Passport should not bear "ECR REQUIRED" 
Endorsement.
e) Name and DOB on passport and marksheet 
should be same.
f) The passport signature shall constitute the
official specimen signature of the candidate and 
the same shall be used uniformly on all 
subsequent maritime documents.
g) All documents original at the time of 
admission, plus one set of self attested 
documents.
h) Passport size photos.

Selection is done by written and oral test in English grammar, Maths, Science and General Knowledge. Syllabus upto and including 10th standard.
